Spine Care, Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
Dr. Khanna graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors of Science in Bio-Medical Engineering. Dr. Khanna believes in a conservative non-invasive and minimally invasive approach to treating most spinal conditions. His focus is on establishing the diagnosis early in the care of a patient and designing an individualized treatment plan for each patient.
Dr. Khanna is considered a leader in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. He has participated in the design and development of many minimally invasive surgical techniques that have led to a dramatic decrease in the discomfort typically associated with spinal procedures. He has taught both United States and International Surgeons these techniques. He has presented his research on these techniques at international spine meetings and has been a pioneer in moving many spinal procedures to the outpatient setting. Many patients are now sent home hours after their procedure avoiding the long hospital stays and pain historically associated with spine surgery.
Dr. Khanna’s extensive research has been published in Spine, Journal of Spine, Journal of American College of Surgeons, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, and American Journal of Orthopaedics. He has written Text Book chapters in the Principles and Practice of Spine Surgery. His research has been presented at national and international meetings such as North American Spine Society, American Academy of Orthopaedics, Cervical Spine Research Society, Scoliosis Research Society, and Mid America Orthopaedic Society.
